Our Vision

A world in which all people are equipped with the tools they need to take agency over their own lives.

Our Mission

Use the universal language of football to teach conversation and reading to the most underserved and vulnerable populations worldwide, providing them with the vital tool necessary to educate themselves, and further enable them to help their community and society as a whole.

To reach those in crisis that are without the traditional classroom setting, and provide them with conversation and literacy skills of the language of the country they have migrated to, both benefiting the individual, as well as the economic infrastructure of their new home country.

So how does it work?

Picture this: when a coach is coaching soccer, and they tell a child to run to the cone that says the NUMBER 1, or they tell them to run to the GREEN Cone, they are inadvertently teaching them numbers and colors.

Reading on the Pitch intentionally teaches letter sounds and names, and then connects those sounds and names to make words. Read more about our curricula.

This methodology is remarkable because it overcomes many of the obstacles that all children, refugee children in particular, might face: insufficient classrooms and school supplies, monotonous, repetitive teaching methods, lack of physical activity, and language barriers.

What are the benefits of this program?

Teaches the tools of conversation and reading that will empower individuals to further educate themselves.
A classroom is not necessary, something that children (particularly refugees) do not always have access to.
Football (soccer) is a universal language that will bring people together without the need for a common tongue.
Respect, sportsmanship, and team-work are practiced on the pitch, integral in survival within any community.
Exercise and play will improve the mental and physical health of all players.
