Connecting With Nature

In collaboration with the staff and children at Awlady Orphanage, the players of Reading on the Pitch set out on an epic adventure through nature at Wadi Degla Protectorate in Cairo, Egypt, led by our incredible scout, Ehab Mohamed Ahmed.

Along our journey, Ehab taught our explorers survival skills, while Ahmad Hussein and Ahmed Bahgat, our volunteers from Bab Initiative, focused on staying connected to nature through the understanding of environment and through meditative practices.

We concluded our adventure with a bbq provided by Awlady Orphanage, where together we enjoyed delicious food, laughter, and the love of the outdoors.

In alignment with ROTP’s vision to provide the communities it works with the tools necessary to take agency over their own lives, through this adventure, ROTP extended to its players the knowledge of accessible spaces within Cairo where one can take a breath of fresh air, connect with nature, and in turn connect with self.

Thank you to all those that made this event possible. It could not have happened without your care.
