April 2018 – Photographs of Reading on the Pitch will be displayed in an Art Exhibit in Athens!!!

More exciting news on the Pitch!!! In April 2018, photographs of the work of Reading on the Pitch will be displayed in an Art Exhibit in Athens, Greece, entitled “Exploring the Landscape.” Reading on the Pitch was honored to be interviewed by Milia Akkouris and Moshoula Capous-Desyllas who are currently conducting a research study in Athens that “seeks to capture the perspectives and visual voices of various key players on the concepts of home, identity, the refugee crisis, and the official and unofficial approaches to addressing the crisis.” The picture of the child holding the football is one of my personal favorites. Within it I see safety, happiness, comfort, hope, brightness, play, life – all of it says love.

Ibrahim is 4 years old, held his ground on the Pitch with all the older children every day during Reading on the Pitch’s session, and as his mother took rest in her room, comfortably was held and sat in the laps of all those, every age, around him. In this photo, he sat in my lap and laid on my chest for over 40 minutes holding this ball. And with that, what did I learn…It’s all about love, love is what we’ve got 🌏
