Reading on the Pitch’s Model of Sustainability on the Mexico/US Border
Reading on the Pitch has successfully created a model of sustainability on the Mexico/US Border. How does this model of sustainability look?
We have teamed up with:
(1) Jose, an asylum seeker from El Salvador living on the Mexico/US border, who has been trained in the English ROTP program and who is currently running the program Monday-Friday from 2pm-4pm.
(2) A kitchen crew in Mexico providing daily meals to asylum seekers that is run by individuals from Mexico, Hondurus, and El Salvador. The ROTP equipment is being stored in this space for daily use.
(3) Melba Salazar-Lucio, a volunteer from Team Brownsville, a Not For Profit based in Brownsville, Texas, that is providing food, clothing, and educational programming to the asylum seekers in Mexico. Team Brownsville is storing extra equipment to be replenished as needed, and has been provided with an English ROTP manual in preparation for new trainers.
Reading on the Pitch is beyond grateful for the continuous support we receive in every country and every population of people we have the pleasure of collaborating with. Together, we can support each other to make life just a little bit easier ❤️
